According to TMZ, Hogan experienced a cardiac arrest at his Clearwater, Florida, residence.
Last month, US Weekly reported that Hogan was recuperating from a major heart surgery.
According to a source close to the wrestler, “Hulk had pretty serious heart surgery a few weeks ago and was doing well afterward,” the outlet reported.
For millions of his fans worldwide, today’s news is devastating because Hogan is widely considered to be one of the most recognizable characters in the entire WWE.
The WWE legend has been receiving a ton of tributes. One person wrote on Twitter: “It’s difficult to explain this man’s dominance in our society when I was a kid. To the Hulkster, RIP.
“I grew up watching Hulk Hogan, first in the wrestling ring and then in movies like Suburban Commando, Mr. Nanny, and 3 Ninjas,” a second person added. He was one of the first wrestlers I saw break into Hollywood, and he was a real character. A legendary figure. Rest in peace, Champ.
A third, however, said: “Without Hulk Hogan, professional wrestling would not be what it is today, regardless of your opinion of him personally. The end of an era, indeed. Rest in peace.
Even though a lot of wrestling fans adore Hogan, his career has undoubtedly been tainted by controversy in recent years.
Hogan was removed from the WWE Hall of Fame in 2015 after a video of him repeatedly using a racial slur was made public in 2007. However, he was reinstated three years later.
Later, Hogan would apologize for the remarks, stating: “It was wrong. Although it embarrasses me, many people need to understand that you are what you are surrounded by and inherit things.
